Friends of the Kiosk

The Friends of the Historic Kiosk association (Förderverein historischer Verkaufspavillon e.V.)  was founded in September 2015 by Jürgen Rausch, former operator of the kiosk, and several friends. Its objective was to have the Bundesbüdchen restored. The objective was to place the kiosk once again at a spot within sight of its old location on the corner of Heussallee. It was clear to all of those involved that the kiosk would have to be repaired and restored in accordance with the dictates of historical monument preservation.

We need your support

You, too, can help ensure the long-term preservation of this historic treasure dating back to the years of the Federal Republic in Bonn. Your donation will help finance needed investments as well as new endeavors (e.g. a marker along the Path of Democracy, a flat-panel info display showing the history of the kiosk) that call greater attention to the Bundesbüdchen and document its historic significance. Every donation is welcome.

We are pleased to thank the following sponsors.

This is how the historic Bundesbüdchen looked at the building yard – a sad sight. But it would soon awaken from hibernation. The Friends of the Historic Kiosk association was lead constructor for the project and became its new owner upon the transfer of ownership rights from Jürgen Rausch. After its reassembly the historic kiosk was leased to the Peter Mauel Bakery. But former owner, Jürgen Rausch, is not abandoning his kiosk and will continue to assist in an advisory capacity.
From Old to New – the Bundesbüdchen in New Splendor The Friends of the Historic Kiosk were able to overcome all of the difficulties, stumbling blocks, and obstacles: On 21 August 2020 the restored Bundesbüdchen was relocated and now stands in new splendor. The efforts undertaken by the Friends of the Historic Kiosk association were assisted by the financial support of the German government, the Deutsche Stiftung Denkmalschutz, the Nordrhein-Westfalen-Stiftung, and by the city of Bonn and private sponsors.
